COVID-19 Update - 13th June 2020

 
Vets are essential - so Warner Vet will remain open for you and your pets.
 
THE HUMAN STATS: Locally, the greater north-metro Brisbane area, there are NO active COVID cases (0%). There have been 317 total cases out of 900,000 people (0.035% or 1 person in every 2839 people) and of these 312 have recovered (presumably the last 2 cases have moved out of the area before recovering). Tragically 3 have passed away (Queensland Health, 13th June 2020 https://www.health.qld.gov.au/news-events/doh-media-releases/releases/queensland-novel-coronavirus-covid-19-update50 ).
 
ANIMAL STATS: A cat in Hong Kong, a cat in Belgium, and a tiger in the Bronx Zoo, New York USA, have caught COVID-19 from infected humans - from the owners and the zoo keeper respectively. No other cats, and no dogs, living with infected owners have become infected. Pets cannot spread the virus back to humans (Australian Veterinary Association, 24th April 2020; American Veterinary Medical Association, 5th April 2020).

Your health is a priority as well as your pet, so all our staff have completed the Health Department eLearning Course in Infection Control Training - COVID-19.

With COVID-19 continuing to spread, the impact on our lives grows, but we can get through this together. The Warner Vet will remain open for you and your pets.  At the same time, we are measures to protect both you, your pets and our staff.  As such, we have extended our already stringent hygiene standards to minimise COVID-19 risks.  To this end:

  1. Please advise staff before coming in if you have any symptoms, meet the criteria of COVID-19, or if you have returned from overseas in the last month as routine desexing and vaccinations can be rescheduled.http://conditions.health.qld.gov.au/HealthCondition/condition/14/217/838/novel-coronavirus
  2. If you feel safer, you may remain in your car, call us from the carpark and we can come out to collect your pet, bring them in to do what we need to, fix you up over the phone and bring your pet back out with any meds or food etc. All while you wait in the carpark.
  3. If you do come in, we recommend all clients use the hand sanitiser just inside our front door.
  4. We recommend, if practical, one person per pet - this will reduce risks and we are happy to email the consultation report so the whole family can still be involved.
  5. For all food, ongoing medications, shampoo, etc pick-ups we are happy to take payment over the phone beforehand so all items can be ready for quick pick-up to minimise waiting, contact and collection times.
  6. For clients aged 60 and over, the most at risk, we will attempt to minimise human contact as much as possible so please just let us know.  This enables us to move you straight into your own dedicated consultation room with minimal contact.
  7. As is our usual practice when you arrive, you will be going directly into your own dedicated consultation room.  Given the current situation, please call from the car park when you arrive, to ensure a consultation room is available.

You and your pets are the reason we exist. We are a small family owned business and fiercely independent. Like you, we are locals and proud to call Moreton Bay our home.

The Warner Vet is a well equipped, modern veterinary hospital, with a purpose built fit-out. Our goal is to provide high quality veterinary medical care for your pets, and we are here to give you everything you need. Whether it is a torn nail, a broken leg, or a ruptured cruciate ligament; whether a dog, a cat or a pocket-pet; all need a little help from time to time.
