I’m Dr Jessica and I am so excited to join the team at Warner Vet as an associate veterinarian. I decided at the tender age of three that I wanted to be a veterinarian and am now living my dream helping all creatures great and small.
I grew up on a property on the Sunshine Coast Hinterlands and moved to the “big smoke” of Brisbane to study veterinary science at the University of Queensland. I knew that I loved animals, but it wasn’t until university that I realised just how exciting learning about all the aspects of veterinary science can be! I graduated from the University of Queensland with Honours in 2009 and went on to work with a broad range of patients in busy veterinary hospitals, large and small animal general practice and in emergency veterinary clinics. This extensive experience gave me the opportunity to help some pretty amazing animals – including alpacas, endangered coastal emus, and even the odd sea turtle or two!
Throughout my career I found my passion within small animal medicine, and I was awarded Membership into the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists for my achievements in the field of Small Animal Medicine in 2016. I have a special interest in treating challenging medical conditions, but also dermatology, dentistry, soft tissue surgery and improving the quality of life of my senior patients. Most of all, I love getting to know my patients and helping them feel cared for and comfortable.
In my down time, my husband and I spend most of our time chasing after our active 3- and 1-year old sons, taking our boisterous golden retriever, Oscar, on walks (he still doesn’t believe he is 11 years old!), teaching our senior cockatiel Tintin some funky new dance moves, and planting orchards and a rainforest on our property in Dayboro.
